The history of Impac Systems goes back to 1985, when Carl Rose founded Design Automation. Design Automation, or "D.A." as it was popularly referred to, was created to provide computer-aided design and drafting services to architectural and engineering organizations.
Design Automation became an authorized reseller of AutoCAD, a computer-aided design and drafting package from Autodesk. In addition to providing drafting services utilizing AutoCAD, Design Automation began to sell complete PC hardware / software and network CAD solutions in 1987. In 1988, Design Automation became authorized to sell Sun Microsystems UNIX operating system that provided the necessary computing power for AutoCAD.
From 1988 through 1992 the company won the "Houston 100 Award" recognizing the 100 fastest growing private companies in Houston . Also in 1992, the company won the INC 500 award recognizing the 500 fastest growing private companies in the United States . The company won the Autodesk President’s Club award recognizing Autodesk’s largest dealers for five consecutive years from 1996 through 2001.
During 1996, the company expanded its expertise of the Sun Microsystems client / server technology to become a value added reseller / integrator of enterprise infrastructure. In 1997 the company opened two satellite offices, one in Michigan and one in Oklahoma and grew to annual revenues of over $30 million.
During 1998 Design Automation spun off Impac Systems, the portion that sold CAD products and services and that is who we are today.
In 1998, Impac Systems added the Autodesk MCAD and Inventor products to address the needs of the Mechanical CAD market. In 2001, SolidWorks 3D solid modeling application was added to the company’s CAD offerings.
In 2002, Impac Systems added Microsoft Business Solutions products and services to offer superior Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications.
In 2003 Impac Systems made a business decision to modify its Mechanical CAD product strategy. PTC with its new wildfire product, which gave a new user interface to its legacy Pro/ENGINEER PRODUCT, approached Impac with a very inciting business proposition. The decision was made to drop SolidWorks and pick up PTC.
In 2004 Impac Systems began to focus its Design Automation product offering on PTC’s Pro/Engineer Wildfire MCAD solutions including the PLM Windchill product line. This change in focus is allowing Impac Systems to provide its customers the very best in mechanical engineering design solutions.
Impac Systems has always sought out premier technology solutions. In 2005 Impac became an OPEN MIND, the maker of the award winning Hypermill CAM package, regional reseller.
Radio frequency identification ( RFID ) is a method of remotely storing and retrieving data using devices called RFID tags/transponders. In 2005 Impac invested in the technology to become an expert where to provide its benefits to its customers.
In 2005 Impac began to evaluate several merger candidates.
In June of 2005 Impac entered into a partnership agreement with Astegic, Inc located in Virgina to deliver custom programming solutions and products such as mInspector.
Then is Septemer 2005 Impac Systems and Comprehensive Engineering Solutions of Austin, Texas merged to create Impac Systems Engineering, LLP.
The combined tenure of each company exceeds 30 years in business with the same management and key employees from each company.
